Equipped with a used VW Beetle, a travel typewriter, and a great deal of ideas and drive, Lieselotte and Hans Pries began exporting Beetle spare parts to North America in 1954. In order to successfully compete in the spare parts business, the decision was made in 1977 to enter the warehouse business. This led to the construction of the first warehouse in Ganderkesee, approximately 25 km west of Bremen, where the company is still based today.
In 1979, Torsten Pries also joined the company. After completing his degree in computer science, he laid the groundwork for the company's continued expansion by planning, developing, and implementing the entire software and hardware area. A wide range of spare parts suitable for Audi and Volkswagen vehicles were added to the product range. The warehouse capacity was continuously expanded through the purchase of adjacent plots of land.
In the late 1990s, efforts began to expand brand concentration to offer customers an even broader range of products. Initially, the focus was on spare parts suitable for German vehicle models. Eventually, the expansion extended to French, and ultimately to spare parts suitable for the most common models and engines of European and Asian vehicle manufacturers. The resulting immense growth led to a significant expansion of the logistics capacities at the company's headquarters in Ganderkesee in the following years.
In 2018, CEO and company owner Torsten Pries set important milestones to continue the dynamic development and align the company for the future. Since then, Hendrik Erdmann and Stefan Knauer, two young and experienced employees from within the company who have already been working successfully for many years, have taken on responsibility as Managing Directors.

As an independent company with over 170 employees, Hans Pries GmbH & Co. KG is one of the leading providers in the global independent automotive spare parts market. Our products under the brand TOPRAN are available in more than 130 countries worldwide. Our range includes over 23,000 different spare and wear parts for cars and light commercial vehicles, covering most models and engines of numerous vehicle manufacturers. We continuously monitor current trends and developments to offer our customers new products as quickly as possible.
